Pains of the Over Achievers

First I must apologize for not blogging more often. After those months studying and waiting for the Bar results I just stopped doing it. Probably because I've focused on different things. So I'm here at work, yes....it is 7am and no, no one else is here. Its one of the mere pains of being an over achiever.

As far as I can tell, its a family trait. My brother has the same affliction. We get something in our sights and go all out, above and beyond what anyone in their right mind would do, just to satisfy our own "goal".

Its strange as we don't do it to impress anyone, or "wow" the world, we just set our own standards way too high. And the standards aren't something that is tangible, or something explainable; like making a million before 45 or being the partner of the year.... my brother at least has a finish line.

After having two children to raise, a new job, a fairly new house, my bro goes on to compete in triathalons and iron-man competitions. Me I just go head over heels into work. Don't get me wrong, if I had some extra time (just moved into a new house), I'd be working out or running or something physical; but for now it all about decorating and painting, working and learning all the things they didn't teach you in Law School.....beware fellow New Attorneys.....THERE IS A LOT!!

I'm willing to bet before long Dr. Phil will have some type of disease with these symptoms. Maybe its just obssessive compulsive, but it doesn't even get that crazy......who know's what it is, all I know is that I've been here at work, everyday from 7am to at least 5:30-6pm ...and for what...."just to get it done".

So my absence from blogging is more like a controlled test. Can I not get submersed in Blogging....can I just not go all out on one thing??? We will see, but I am back to blogging and will keep all up to date on my new afflictions!

Best wishes to all still waiting!....I'm not even saying the dreaded cliches!

One thing - you can always feel good about yourself - and I am sure everyone appreciates you and your hard work- One last thing -
